If you're leaving the European Union from a Spanish airport, you'll need to complete DIVA validation before departure to receive your VAT refund.
Finding a DIVA kiosk
Follow signs for Tax Free, DIVA, or Customs (Aduanas). DIVA kiosks are typically located near the Customs office. If you cannot find one, ask airport staff for directions.
Arrive early
Allow enough time to complete DIVA validation before your flight. Some airports provide validation through Customs or the Fiscal Guard instead of a self-service kiosk, and additional time may be needed during busy travel periods. This varies by airport.
If you can't find a DIVA kiosk
Visit the Customs (Aduanas) office. If a self-service kiosk is unavailable or you're instructed to do so, Customs can manually validate your DIVA documents before you leave the European Union.
Before you leave
Make sure your DIVA documents have been successfully validated before boarding your flight. Without Customs validation, you may not be eligible to receive your VAT refund.
