You hold one of these residence statuses:
Temporary Visitors (within 6 months of entry)
Diplomatic
Official
You entered Japan with a landing permit, such as:
Landing permit for crew members
Landing permit for boat tourists
(e.g., airline crew members, cruise passengers, etc.)
(Eligibility applies within 6 months of entry.)
You are U.S. military personnel with a SOFA stamp.
Note: Holders of Diplomatic, Official, or SOFA stamps remain eligible for tax exemption even if more than six months have passed since their entry into Japan.
Non-Residents with Japanese Nationality
You are eligible for tax-free shopping if:
You have lived outside Japan for two or more years, which can be verified with a residence certificate or family register.
You have re-entered Japan within six months, as confirmed by a return seal.
Your registered domicile land number is stated.
